FAQ
The questions I'm often asked.
Can't find your question here? Write to me, I reply quickly.
- How long is a lesson?
- 25 or 50 minutes, one-to-one and by video. You choose the format when you book.
- How does the lesson system work?
- You buy a pack that fills your lesson balance. A lesson lasts 50 min (or 25 min for a short format). Your lessons never expire.
- How much does a lesson cost?
- From €30 for a single lesson down to €22.50 per lesson in the pack of 12: the bigger the pack, the less each lesson costs. All the details are on the Pricing page.
- Do you offer a trial lesson?
- There is no separate trial offer, but L'expresso is made for exactly that: a single 50-minute lesson, no commitment, to see whether my way of teaching suits you. If you are still unsure or your situation is unusual, write to me: I will answer before you buy anything.
- How do I book or cancel a lesson?
- Everything happens from your personal space: you book an available slot and can cancel within the stated notice period.
- What level do I need to start?
- None in particular: I support learners from complete beginner (A0) to autonomy (C1). The first lesson is precisely there to find your level and goals.
- What language is the lesson in if I'm a beginner?
- French and English. English is there as support at the start, to explain what needs explaining; French takes up more and more room as you progress.
- What do I need to take a lesson?
- An internet connection and a quiet spot. The video link is sent to you when you book.
- Do you prepare students for exams?
- Yes: DELF, DALF, TCF and FIDE. Preparation is built around the exam and the date ahead of you.
- Can I get an invoice?
- Yes. Every purchase generates an invoice, which you can find and download as a PDF from your personal space.
Frequently asked questions about the test
- How does the test work?
- We start at level A1, then go up stage by stage to C1. Each stage has six questions: grammar and vocabulary, a short text to read and an audio clip to listen to.
- When a stage gets too hard, the test stops and gives you your level. You can also continue anyway, to see what you can do beyond it.
- How long does it take?
- Between 5 minutes, if the test stops at the first stage, and about 20 minutes if you go all the way to C1. You can take a break: the test waits for you for 7 days in your browser.
- What do A1, A2… C1 mean?
- They are the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), used throughout Europe.
- Each level in detail →
- Is the result reliable?
- It is an estimate. The test measures understanding (grammar, reading and listening), but speaking isn't measured here: it shows when you talk. That's why the first lesson starts with a conversation, which confirms or adjusts your level.
- Is it like the DELF or the DALF?
- No, it is neither: this test gives no diploma. It is there to find out your level so I can better meet your needs from the very first lesson. If you are preparing for the DELF or the DALF, let me know: we'll prepare for it together.
- What happens after the test?
- You can write to me straight from the results screen: your level is already written in the message. The first lesson is for getting to know each other, clarifying your speaking level and setting your goals together.
